Colin sets out to run LCR in a day
Colin Sinclair, chief executive of Knowledge Quarter Liverpool and Sciontec, is today embarking on an epic double-marathon attempt to run across the Liverpool City Region in a day to raise money for local charities.
The 52-mile challenge, which began this morning at 6am, will take Colin through Sefton, Liverpool, Wirral, Halton, St Helens and Knowsley. It is expected to take around 12 hours, including a short trip on Merseyrail and the Mersey Ferry, and will finish at the Novotel Liverpool Paddington Village hotel this evening.
Colin will be stopping briefly at various points along the route, where he will be greeted by local civic leaders, supporters and charity representatives.
Six charities, one from each borough – Home Start, Y Kidz, Stick ‘n’ Step, Centre 56, St Helens Young Carers and Claire House Children’s Hospice – will all benefit from Colin’s colossal effort and representatives from each will join him at various points during the day.
Colin is known in local business circles for his love of endurance events, having previously competed in his fifties and sixties in numerous triathlons, Iron Man competitions, marathons and ultra runs.
To prepare for the event, Colin’s training has included weekly runs with the newly-created ‘KQ Liverpool Running Club’ alongside colleagues and partners from across the innovation district, setting out each Wednesday lunchtime to do a steady 5k from Liverpool Science Park.
