Knowledge Quarter Liverpool (KQ Liverpool) is an innovation district in Liverpool City Centre, home to world-leading Universities, hospitals, cultural institutions and hundreds of businesses.

What exactly is KQ Interns?

KQ Interns is a new inclusive internship programme launching this summer, open to students aged 16+ living in Liverpool City Region (Wirral, Sefton, St Helens, Knowsley, Halton and Liverpool).

How long is the placement?

How long is the placement?

It is a 3 week programme intended to give participants essential work experience to learn more about the types of careers available in innovation, and develop the skills employers look for.

What will KQ Interns entail?

Skills and projects

From developing employability and workplace skills, to interview and application practice. From presentation to project management skills, KQ Interns will gain crucial career insights, whilst also having the opportunity to meet some of the exciting businesses working in Liverpool City Region.

The interns will also work on an independent research project set by a business during the three weeks, and have the opportunity to present on their findings at the end of the programme.

Will Interns be paid?

  • Yes. This is a paid internship and KQ Interns will be paid the UK Living Wage (£630 in total). 

Where will my internship take place?

  • Your internship will take place in Liverpool City Centre, at various locations across the Knowledge Quarter. 

When will KQ Interns take place?

KQ Interns will run for 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday) over a 3 week period during the summer holidays, giving participants around 50 hours of work experience.

KQ Interns will start on Monday 4th August and will run until Wednesday 20th August. This will include a celebration ceremony on the afternoon of Wednesday 20th August.

– How long will I be working each day?

  • Each day will start at 10am and finish at 3pm.

How do I apply for the internship?

To apply, we ask you to complete the application form (click here), which will inform us about:

  • Your personal details (ie: name, address, school/college)
  • What type of business would you be interested in learning more about during your internship? (ie: Science, Technology, Creative, Digital, Engineering)
